Automated loading solutions for SMT production lines. Reliable magazine-to-conveyor and conveyor-to-conveyor PCB transfer.
Sunandmountain PCB Loaders handle the input side of SMT lines — transferring bare boards from magazines into the production flow. Choose from side-entry, inline, vacuum, suction, auto-drop, mini, and heavy-duty configurations. All units support SMEMA-compliant signaling for seamless line integration.
What a PCB Loader Does in Your SMT Line
A PCB loader is the upstream unit that separates individual circuit boards from a stacked magazine and feeds them onto the SMT production conveyor at consistent, repeatable intervals. Without automated loading, operators manually hand-load boards one at a time — creating bottlenecks above 200 boards/hour, introducing placement errors, and limiting the maximum line speed. S&M loaders operate at 300-600 boards per hour, integrate with any SMEMA-compliant conveyor, and handle board widths from 50mm to 510mm.

Frequently Asked Questions: PCB Loaders
What types of PCB loaders does S&M offer?
S&M PCB loaders cover five configurations: Side-Entry (for standard single-sided loading), Inline (for straight SMT line integration), Vacuum (with vacuum chuck for vacuum-compatible handling), Auto-Drop (automatically separates panels from magazines), Suction (uses suction cups for panel handling without mechanical contact), and Heavy-Duty (for thick or heavy boards up to 5kg). All models support magazine capacities of 50-100 panels and board sizes from 50x50mm to 510x460mm.
What is the difference between a PCB loader and unloader?
A PCB loader loads bare or populated PCBs from an input magazine onto the SMT line conveyor. A PCB unloader receives finished panels from the line output and stacks them into an output magazine. Loaders typically have panel detection sensors for lead-free or sensitive boards, while unloaders often include quality checkpoints (OK/NG sorting) before panel stacking. Both use SMEMA-compliant signal interfaces for line synchronization.
What magazine sizes are supported?
Standard magazine capacity is 50 panels for 3.2mm thick boards, scaling down to 25 panels for 6.0mm boards. All S&M loaders support standard JEDEC tray dimensions and accept custom magazine slot pitch on request. Magazine sensor detection confirms panel presence in each slot to prevent double-loading or empty magazine run.
Can PCB loaders handle heavy or oversized panels?
Yes. S&M Heavy-Duty loaders support panels up to 5kg per panel and board dimensions up to 610x560mm. For oversized panels, the Inline Heavy-Duty model uses reinforced conveyor rails and a strengthened magazine lifting mechanism with stepper motor drive rather than standard pneumatic lift. Panel thickness support extends to 10mm for special applications like metal-core PCBs.
What integration options are available?
All S&M PCB loaders and unloaders support SMEMA 1.0/2.0 signal interface (DC24V) for direct SMT line integration. Optional features include: barcode scanner integration for lot traceability, touch-screen PLC control for recipe memory (up to 50 programs), alarm beacon for production monitoring, and RS-485/TCP-IP MES connectivity for factory automation.
